Me with Fluffy |
Hey! Well, I had two rabbits for a few years but I was being forced
to give them away afterwards. The reason was caused by my stepfather who had
threatened to eat them if I didn't get rid of them. I couldn't bare that cruelty
happen, so I solemnly gave them away. I suppose that's one thing I started building
hatred toward him. If he had given me some extra time to consider other ways than
giving them to a pet store, then I probably would have given them to my friends. But
time was critical at the moment, so all I really thought about was my rabbits'
safety. Subsequently, I never saw them again. :*( I've heard from the friend
who had assisted me in giving them to the store that my rabbits were bought by someone.
Anyway, my brown
rabbit, Pluffy, had some baby bunnies. There had been two times that she gave birth
to her bunnies. The first delivery of bunnies was when I was at school, therefore I
had no knowledge of it until I reached home and found out. That time, all of her
bunnies died because all of them fell down the spaces between the netted cage. I was
sad to discover it, but I could have done nothing. The second time was more
luckier. I wasn't at school or anything, but outside feeding the brown rabbit.
It was in winter time, I recall, then mysteriously, Pluffy kept plucking her beautiful
brown hair out with her sharp teeth. I was shocked and had no clue what she was
doing! I watched carefully and curiously yet at the same time, afraid that she had
gone nuts. Well, I watched as she stack her hair carefully in one corner. Then
she sat down while still on task of pulling more hair of hers out. Moments later, I
saw little creatures emerging out of her vagina! I was really shocked because I
never even knew she was pregnant in the first place! Well, I interpreted her earlier
actions, and came to realize that she was plucking out her hairs for the sake of her
bunnies. The hair can protect at least a bit from the cold temperature. I
thought that was very smart and thoughtful of Pluffy.
I thought everything would turn out alright, but something unexpected
happened. Well, even though the baby bunnies were newborn, they were able to
crawl. So one of the bunnies crawled slowly out of the hair stack and fell down the
cage! I quickly picked it up and returned it to Pluffy. She sniffed at it for
a moment, then she turned around without any concerns! I didn't expect that, but
then moments later, she didn't even care for her bunnies. She didn't cover them to
keep them warm, she just sat in a corner away from her bunnies. I was
confused. I quickly went inside the house and told my stepfather about it. I
told him what happened, and he told me that I wasn't suppose to touch the babies because
the mother won't want it anymore if I did. I wished I had knew that before.
Well, I suppose since I touched one of them, Pluffy probably thought I touched them all,
and didn't care for any of them. She just pretended they never existed. So my
brothers and I tried to feed the bunnies milk from Publix, but they didn't seem to drink
them really. Nothing was useful, and soon, they all died. I was extremely sad
because I had so much hope that I were going to have bunnies to play with.
I suppose my stepfather wanted me to get rid of them due to the fact
that I couldn't take care of them efficiently. But what I didn't understand was why
he had threatened such an awful thing. It made my heart jumped just the thought of
it. I knew it was plainly a threat, but I knew as well that if he had said something
that he might do, then he was very likely to do it. I loved my two rabbits deeply
even though they did scratch me sometimes. They were very adorable! They were
fun to play with as well as fun to tease. I remember how I would scream to Fluffy,
and he would stump one of his back feet on the grass ground. It was funny. If
I could have them back, then I would welcome them back, but unlikely. I guess I
could purchase one/two young rabbits in the future......but I know it won't be the
same. It'll be still be fun though, I assume.
